Fun Week

This has been a fun week and the next one will be even more exciting.
I finished parent/teacher conferences a couple of weeks ago. I have loved having my own classroom (as opposed to job sharing) but it has taken so much more time and energy. It was a time of soul searching about what I am doing right and wrong. I am afraid that I am doing way too much on the "wrong" side this year. I am lazy when it comes to curriculum building and making learning exciting, so I have spent a lot of time looking at that and trying to fix it. Luckily the school district is helping me with that. Next year I get to have an electronic classroom. Each school was offered 2 e-classrooms. I was lucky enough to get one! I will have 15 computers in my room and 14 days of training (spread over 2 years) about how to use those efficiently. The big plus side for me is that I can use them to help keep paperwork under control. The kids will take a lot of tests online and the programs will score everything and report the concepts learned or missed, all with little effort from me! I know it will be hard as I get used to it but I am so excited. We will do a lot of presentations using multi-media which really gets kids ready for their future.

After that good news, we got to take Allie to Disney Princesses on Ice. She was so excited and so animated. I did some sewing for a friend and she gave me those tickets in return, so the tickets were free. It was pretty funny to have three adult women (Sue, Susanne, and me) all watching this little four year old. Needless to say, we had a great time. We didn't think to take a camera so you don't get to enjoy the pictures. Allie oohed and ahhed every time a new princess came out. She also jumped and cheered and pumped her arms. It was great.

Now we get to go to Disneyland over my spring break. Rick and I are going up through San Francisco. We are going to the Winchester Mystery House and spending at least one night among the redwood trees. Then we'll drive down to LA and pick up the girls. The girls are flying in and out. I am looking forward to being with my husband for more than a week without all the stresses of being home and all the work there that calls our name. I think I am more excited about that than the actual trip. I'll post pictures when we get home.
