October

October has been an interesting month at our house. We started with a great trip (just Rick and I) to Fish Lake, Capitol Reef National Park, the Burr Trail, Bryce Canyon, and Red Canyon. It was great fun.

The picture above is of Strike Valley. It runs down the middle of the 100 mile water pocket fold that helps make Capitol Reef. We took a scary, but fun, jeep road and then a bit of a hike to get to this cool overlook. I apparently deleted the other picture. We had one going north and one going south.

This is the top of the Aquarius Plateau. It is the largest high plateau on the continent. Rick has always wanted to see the world from the top. It was a pretty easy jeep road up to it. Can I say we love our RAV4? It is a really fun car to drive both highway and off road.

Then here is Rick (Can you see him?) in the bottom of the Grand Wash. I wanted to share the feel of the high, narrow wash. This was a very easy hike because it is mostly flat. You get bogged down in the sand sometimes but it is spectacular!

Then after our fun trip we had the not so fun part of the month. Susanne had a virus attack her heart and it got pretty scary for a while. She is back to school/work today for the first time. Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers. She is under strict orders to leave early if her heart, blood pressure, or pulse do not stay at a normal level. She has been pushing herself over the last week so that she can finish her preceptorship and finally get her RN. Her school has been very good to her through the last couple of weeks and are trying to make it pretty easy to graduate with her class the end of this month. We have loved Nan's cardiologist and he is going to keep a pretty close watch on her for the next couple of months to make sure we don't have to repeat the ICU experience. I, personally, think she should get school credit for being on that side of the medical care for a week. She learned a lot about being a better patient (she is NOT a good patient.)
